Hello Dear Friends. I wanted to continue this topic for another week because I felt there was more to discuss, and I also found the topic interesting and I wanted to learn more. For those of you who missed Part 1 of this series it can be found here – Be Mindful of Curses–Part 1.
After completing Part 1, I was thinking, God cursed the serpent (Genesis 3:14) and He also cursed the ground (Genesis 3:17). Given this, what does that mean for us today? Well, the serpent signifies Satan (Revelation 12:9) who is still working his evil through disobedience and operating in the atmosphere (Ephesians 2:1–2). Now, when we examine the curse on the land, we realize that we have to toil all our days to eat food, the earth will produce weeds (thorns and thistles) and we will die, (that is, return to the ground).
So, when God says in Revelation 22:3 that there will be no more curses, what is he saying? God is saying that the home that Jesus went to prepare for us will now be our home (John 14:3), and no longer this Earth where we have to toil and work. He is also saying that we will no longer have to die (Revelation 1:18) and we will live forever with Him (John 11:25-26). If we understand this, we can better see why God had to say curses will be no more. At that point God would have fulfilled all His promises in Jesus towards us and restored true life and happiness to everything.
The thing is, God has always placed choices before us, and these choices are usually only two options. We can either choose good or evil, and depending on which one we choose, it will produce life or death, respectively. God never imposes and always gives us free will in these decisions. This approach started in Genesis and continued throughout the bible.
In Genesis, a choice was placed to choose from the tree of life or the tree of evil (Genesis 2:1), and we all know how that turned out. In Deuteronomy 30:15 we see where the choice of Life and Death was placed before the Jews to select. For good measure, I will list down some of these scriptures.
Deuteronomy 30:15 – “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;”
Deuteronomy 30:19–“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live”
Now further along, when Jesus was on the scene, he presented Himself as life (John 1:4), and we also have a choice to accept Him as true life or reject Him. This is the choice every human has to make, and we have to make it before it is too late.
The thing is, some have money but they don’t have life, some have jobs of power and influence but they don’t have life, some have good health but they don’t have life – need I say more?. Coupled with this, we don’t realize that some of the surrounding things are cursed and only lead to destruction and death. My opinion is, if it doesn’t bring life, or you closer to God, then it brings death and death is a curse. I ask again, are you choosing things which do not benefit and bring death to your soul? Today is a day to choose wisely!
Let me share a conversation I had with a friend about 2 months ago. Out of the blue this long-time friend (let’s call him Fred) phoned to ask my opinion on something. Apparently things were not going to well for Fred for some time and he indicated that another one of his friends advised him to seek the spiritual underworld for assistance. Fred said he knows this is wrong, but he just wanted my opinion. I thank God Fred knew what was right and he sort help to strengthen his beliefs. Mind you, all of us have been there where we need confirmation on things. Even John the Baptist needed confirmation and had to send to get a word from Jesus (Luke 7:18-23).
I advised my friend that he should stay away from engaging in anything of this spiritually dark nature, since it can unleash a whole set of curses and negative effects on his family. I also followed up by sending the following scripture.
Isaiah 8:19-22 (NIV) “9 When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
I want to keep this blog short and end here by saying this. Jesus paved the way to not only free us from all curses, death and sin, but also give us life and give it more abundantly. PLEASE ACCEPT THIS LIFE TODAY!
Who was this blog series for? I am not sure, since I simply write as the Lord leads knowing that it is His work. As I always say, I am an empty pen, and God is the ink that fills me via His Spirit.
Maybe this blog might be for a believer who needed to be reminded that everything around him/her is dying and/or cursed and they made an excellent decision to serve the living God and obtaining life. It might have been for someone who has not yet fully accepted God and they must do so now, without delay. It could have been for someone who was thinking about conversing with a medium or psychic for direction. I cannot give a definitive answer to any of the above.
But one thing I do know, it is that God knows who this blog post should reach and if you are reading it, then that person is you. Please don’t let this blog post reach you and after reading about life and death, you walk away choosing death.
Psalm 119:9 (KJV) – “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word,”

Thanks for further reinforcing that the battle between good and evil, God versus Satan is real. This blog was truly insightful, and I trust that it will strengthened those of us rooted and grounded in our faith, provide encouragement to a discouraged saint on the verge of giving up or bring some wayward sinner into the fold of Christ. May God continue to use you as a vessel of honour, Dane Miller.
