Last week God, had me write on the topic, Men’s Heart’s will be Failing for Fear  . I had several conversations with persons on this topic throughout the week, so much so, that it fuelled me to continue sharing along these lines.

Actually, the thought of doing a second blog first started when I went out to work on Tuesday. I was following the Covid 19 stay at home protocols but I needed to go into the office to get some specific things done. As I was walking out my door, fear came alongside me and whispered, “You really going out there boy! Don’t you know that the invisible enemy called Covid 19 is in the atmosphere lurking to kill you.” In that moment, the Holy Spirit also appeared on my opposite shoulder and He reminded me of a few things.

The Holy Ghost said, “Why are you feeling fearful?”. Is it because you are now conscious of an unseen danger in the atmosphere? In that moment, I was reminded that many times we go out of our homes and unseen dangers lurk at every corner. Even if we are not going out to openly be among danger, danger can come to us. We can be safely sleeping in our homes and unaware that robbers are sneaking around the outside, only a doorknob away from doing us harm.

The Holy Ghost opened my eyes even more this week,  to the fact that our enemy, the devil, is always walking around to pounce and devour us, with or without COVID.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. –  1 Peter 5:8

There are so many things going on in the spiritual realm, that it will blow our minds, if we can even see a small percentage of the plans and schemes that the devil is devising to destroy us. But it is our God who protects us from them ALL. It is our God who overshadows us and keeps us safe.

Do you think God wants us walking around with fear on our minds? Any loving father would not want this for any of his children. I can speak for myself, if one of my daughters came and told me she was walking around and living in fear and worry, I would be very concerned and take every step possible to alleviate it. So, can you imagine what a good Heavenly Father would do in this same regard?  He would not allow us to continue in fear without intervening. The thing is, are we listening to His word to calm our souls.

“The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121:7-8 NIV

“And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” – 2 Timothy 4:18

There are over 100 or so scriptures in the bible which tell us, to do not fear. That is quite a large number of scriptures which deals with this subject, in one form or another. Knowing this is good, but living it is even better. Head knowledge about God is commendable, but Godly knowledge mixed with faith, then sprinkled a bit of experience on top of that, man now we will be cooking.

I am sure many of us can look back on our experience with God, or should I say, examine God’s track record in our life and realize He has been faithful. All of us had past situations where we were worried and fearful, but God pulled us through in the end. Hallelujah! We showed faith, and God showed Himself faithful! This is a time-tested recipe.

To be honest, this is what it boils down to, Faith Overcoming Fear. Are you choosing to be fearful, or are you choosing to be FAITH-FULL? It is your choice alone!

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. – Romans 10:17

Now is the time to detach ourselves from persons who are constantly speaking negatively and drown ourselves in God’s word in order to build our faith. Doing this would cause us to land safely on solid ground.

Faith is like an airport watch tower, broadcasting its signal to you, the airplane pilot. You cannot easily navigate around the thick clouds, thunderstorms or turbulence that comes your way, without the connection with the watch tower. The watch tower gives you the guidance to adjust your speed, delay and circle for a bit, when to descend and what runway you must line up on.

Without this spiritual watch tower, with instructions provided by the Holy Spirit (Air Traffic Controller) , you can never safely land at your destination.  This is what faith in God does, it allows us to fly with confidence and with the deep assurance that all will be well. But the tower cannot do all the work, we still have to take some actions while seated in the cockpit of life.

We have to continue praying, reading His word, praising Him (even when we do not feel like praising Him) and living right in His eyes. By building this relationship, a confidence will swell up in you like never before.  A confidence that everything will be alright, no matter what season comes your way, because the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE IS WITH YOU AND FOR YOU. In doing this, a love relationship is formed, and you know what God said about this type of love?

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” – 1 John 4:18

Loving God will all our might, strength and soul directly causes us to cast out fear.

Not only this, but building this Godly love relationship causes us to know that the only thing to truly fear in life is God and God alone.

‘And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”. –  Matthew 10:28 KJV

God has orchestrated this righteous fear in a way that we can get more safety and protection. You see, fearing the wrong thing leaves us frightened and exposed. But fearing and reverencing God allows Him to send more ministering angels to cover and protect us.

“9 The angel of the Lord encampeth  round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints:  for there is no want to them that fear him” – Psalms 34:7-9

My dear friends, there is great benefit in not being a slave to fear, and to avoid this, we are asked to fear God only and give all our love over to Him;  for our true safely and our ability to become fearless resides in doing this!
