Most of you will know the first verse of the song “What the world needs now”. A song which was made popular by Dionne Warwick.

“What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone.”

The song was first penned in 1965 because love was lacking. Fast forward 53 years and what do you find? Love is still lacking! Look around, do you see love actively being displayed? Or is it something on the endangered species list? We have killed off one of the most beautiful, powerful and healing things that God himself has given to us.

Love is one of the greatest things on earth. You don’t have to be wealthy, or in a position of power to have it. God has given this ability to everyone. Once you have the breathe of life, you have the capacity to give great love. God is love, and he has shaped us in his image and likeness therefore we also have this attribute and can possess it to the fullest.

So if love is this great thing and everyone has the ability to give it why it is it seems to be lacking? I really would like you to stop here for a moment and think about what I am asking? Why is love so lacking between siblings, parents & children, neighbors, work colleagues, church folks, countries and nations. Well, only read on if you want the true and honest answer to this!

Psalms 51:5 (KJV) Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

2 Timothy 3:1-4 (KJV) 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Our human and sinful nature is to do wrong even from birth. This is why a child so easily does the wrong thing without even being taught. Then as they get bigger so does the actions. Now couple that with what Timothy said regarding the last days and the hardness of men’s heart and you will see a grim picture indeed.

What then is the answer to this human decay and lack of concern for our fellow man? Well, the answer is a spiritual solution and we already have it. God prophesied about what will come but He also provided the antidote. The answer to sin is being born again through the blood of Jesus Christ. Now after you are born again start pointing the world to Him.

He is love and the only way to get it is from the source. God is the source, but we are the chosen instruments He pours from. The Bible says that the world will know we are Christians by our LOVE. The transforming love of God in us is what will point others to Him and showcase His beauty. So what does the world need now, “Love Sweet Love”. I say to you what the world needs now is more persons with true Christian Character, in other words, the Godly Love which is in us believers.

I encourage you today to be in a position to establish love on earth. Show forth that you have LOVE (God) in your heart by forgiving quickly, giving to those in need abundantly, extending yourself to others who cannot help you in return, being kind and gentle always. What the world needs now is more of God in you. Please take this statement personally. For souls are going astray and dying because of the lack of love they see in us christians at times.

My brothers and sisters in the lord, we have the power to change and we also have the power not to change. Embrace love and you will embrace the change you want to see. Be an agent of creating love and pointing others to God. Don’t wait for tomorrow for tomorrow might never come.

I say again, FOR THEY KNOW WE ARE CHRISTIANS BY OUR LOVE!!
