I was thinking recently about how beneficial it is to know the future. Not just me, but I’m sure many of us would be interested in knowing what our futures hold. For instance, if we were to discover that we would be involved in a car accident the following day, wouldn’t we choose to stay at home to avoid it? It would be foolish not to do everything in our power to shape a favourable outcome if we had foreknowledge of our future.

Consider another scenario: What if I gave you advice to purchase shares in a specific company by your future self, which leads to an unexpected windfall of money and instant millionaire status? Would you decline this opportunity to have advanced knowledge? Most of us would likely jump at the chance. Thus, having knowledge of both positive and negative outcomes in our future can help us take actions.

When we consider the two scenarios mentioned above, having knowledge of the future can be advantageous. However, is it truly beneficial? For instance, the victim of an accident may end up in the hospital and fall in love with their doctor, get married, and lead a happy life thereafter. On the other hand, the wealthy family may be ruined by their riches, or they may mismanage their money and become worse off. Therefore, what am I trying to say? I believe that “knowing the future is good, but knowing the end is better.”

To comprehend the end, we need to communicate with the great designer, who is the Alpha and Omega – Jehovah God. The one who stepped out of eternity to create time (Genesis 1:3-5) and who will press stop to end it (Revelation 10:6). God knows the beginning and the end and orchestrates everything in between. The word of God says, “Look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). God authors our story from beginning to end, and to be successful in it, we must look to Him. Looking to Him is the key, but many of us fail to do so, leading to uncertainty and fear for the future. By placing our faith in Jesus, we can overcome this fear of the unknown future.

It’s important to note that God has already warned us about future events and our personal destinies through his words. In particular, he has warned us about the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21-22), Nuclear Warfare (Zechariah 14:12), Wars and Rumors of Wars (Matthew 24:6-13), False Teachers (2 Peter 2:1-29), and things like Selfishness being commonplace (2 Timothy 3:1-17).

From a personal standpoint, God has great plans for us as mentioned in Jeremiah 29:11. We can obtain whatever we ask for as stated in 1 John 3:22. Clothing and shelter are also promised to us in Matthew 6:25-34. However, afflictions are inevitable, and we must not be surprised by them, as mentioned in Psalm 34:19-22. Rest assured, all these promises are going to come true.

As believers, we have been blessed with foresight and insight into the future, both the good and bad, along with how everything will end. Therefore, it would be unwise to ignore this valuable information, like the person who averted the car accident above. We must use our foreknowledge wisely to save ourselves and the people around us from disaster. We must not only be on our guard, but we must also be lifeguards.

We must guard against the wiles of the devil, who comes to kill, steal, and destroy (Ephesians 6:11-13; John 10:10). Again, these are things we foreknow, but what are we doing with the information? Let me ask you this. Are you on your guard? Are you watchful and vigilant?

1 Peter 5:8-9 CEVDCI – “Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith.”

It’s quite possible that someone reading this blog has recently come under attack from the devil. But have you stopped to consider why this happened? Maybe the enemy caught you off guard and switched off, or perhaps you were simply not paying attention. Were you neglecting to pray and fast, even though you knew what the future held—an attacking devil? Were you skipping church or failing to read your Bible regularly? The fact is, you knew what you should have been doing, yet you chose to ignore it, or you became content.

Dear friend, we are currently witnessing the rapid unfolding of the future as God has outlined. Some might say things are getting worst, but ibwoukd say things are getting revealed. It is crucial that we do not become complacent or indifferent at this critical juncture. We must remain alert to the spiritual war we are fighting and the high stakes involved. In times of war, both sides seek to uncover the plans, weapons, strategies, and tactics of their enemy. If they could even get a crystal ball to foresee the end of the war, they would. Our God has given us all this strategic information about our enemy and life in general, with a clear understanding of how things will ultimately play out in the end. It is us who have the crystal ball, and we can no longer make excuses or mismanage how we use it. Our duty now is to be good soldiers, using our knowledge wisely to save our souls and those of others.
